Online or IRL – join us soon at a Scotland Audio Network event or chat

We're totally delighted to be bringing back the Scotland Audio Network (SAN).

Our Dave first started the network in 2020, pretty much the same time he founded Bespoken Media - podcasts, audio, training here in Edinburgh.

The idea was (and is) to help give audio folk in Scotland a platform to meet, collaborate, share ideas, and prosper.

After a haitus, and with Carys and Katie now running the show, we held an 'in person' social earlier this week in a room above a pub in central Edinburgh.

We totally failed to take any pics, so you'll have to take our word for it, but about 35 people showed up.

They came from near and far, and with various interests in audio and production.

We had a lovely time.

There were producers, engineers, storytellers, musicians, and sound designers, and more besides.

Some were people just starting out, and looking for a first foothold in the industry.

Others were experienced hands willing to share their advice and wisdom (and looking for their own networking opportunities).

A recurring theme was how - all too often - audio people are holed up at home during the working day, either on solo projects, or working remotely as part of teams based in London or elsewhere.

It can be isolating.

We plan to run these 'in person' meet-ups once a quarter, alternating between venues in Edinburgh and Glasgow.

The two months inbetween, we'll run online events - to ensure we can always include people based further afield.

Next Event

Excitingly, our next online event is already on the books. Our brilliant guest confirmed availability just a few hours ago!

On April 30th, at 1pm, we'll run an online Q&A with one of the UK's most exciting and well-known audio producers - Axel Kacoutié.

Axel has been Creative Director of Sound at the Guardian, has produced bucketloads of incredible features for the BBC, and generally makes magical audio, not least with the incredible team at Falling Tree productions.

There's lots more to come from SAN, including an exciting announcement very soon about a brand new podcast feed - watch this space!

Oh, and huge thanks to Chloe Straw and AudioUK for their ongoing support of SAN.

More soon. Cheers for now.
